Parents Day Poems For Dad

I love u, Dad, & want u to know,

I feel ur love wherever I go.

Whenever I’ve problems, u’re there to assist,

The ways u have helped me would make quite a list.

Ur wisdom & knowledge have shown me the way,

& I’m thankful for u as I live day by day.

I don’t tell u enough how important u are,

In my universe u’re a bright shining star.

The things u taught me I will always know.

How could I not? The roots have sunk so deep:

All lessons of the heart that I will keep

No matter who I am or where I go.

Kids learn from what their parents are, & so

U are my book of life, the thoughts I reap;

Only in ur arms I quiet sleep;

Under my words ur voice sings soft & slow.

From u I learned the rules of right & wrong

Against which I at times had to rebel,

Though with regret I carry with me still.

How lucky I am to have been loved so well,

Even as I pushed against ur will,

Relying on a father fair & strong.

God took the strength of a mountain,

The majesty of a tree,

The warmth of a summer sun,

The calm of a quiet sea,

The generous soul of nature,

The comforting arm of night,

The wisdom of the ages,

The power of the eagle’s flight,

The joy of a morning in spring,

The faith of a mustard seed,

The patience of eternity,

The depth of a family need,

Then God combined these qualities,

When there was nothing more to add,

He knew His masterpiece was complete,

& so,

He called it … Dad

U may have thought I didn’t see,

Or that I hadn’t heard,

Life lessons that u taught to me,

But I got every word.

Perhaps u thought I missed it all,

& that we’d grow apart,

But Dad, I picked up everything,

It’s written on my heart.

Without u, Dad, I wouldn’t be

The (woman)(man) I am today;

U built a strong foundation

No one can take away.

I’ve grown up with ur values,

& I’m very glad I did;

So here’s to u, dear father,

From ur forever grateful kid.
